The first-ever Queen Mary Night Market was THE best way to celebrate FriYAY—and the last weekend of summer—with food, fun, arts, and music along the shore. It was a gathering for family and friends to enjoy SoCal’s delicious and diverse culinary scene as well as shop for unique and cool art, all while listening to the very talented Manuel the Band who kept the crowd grooving with its sweet sounds and captivating vocals.
There were dozens of food vendors and local makers, making it a fun evening to eat, sip, shop, and stroll in the breezy open air with the Queen Mary and Long Beach skyline serving as a breathtaking and beautiful backdrop (not to mention giving guests that Insta-worthy shot)!
What’s good Gab explored and enjoyed the Queen Mary Night market, it was the perfect summer sendoff. Here are our highlights and recommendations:
Best cuisine

Tico Street Tacos: Brisket Ropa Vieja served in an Anchiote Corn Tortilla with Black Bean Puree, Shredded Cabbage, Pico de Gallo, Queso Cotija, and Tico Special Sauce. What’s good Gab LOVED the Tico Street Tacos with Brisket Ropa Vieja, the shredded stewed beef was tender and juicy, and the accompaniments made the taco a masterpiece, full of flavor, both spicy and juicy, hearty and rich.

Chef Hugo Miranda and his talented team including Chef Alejandro Sanchez know how to serve it up with style AND flavor! Butcher’s Block LA’s menu of Costa Rican cuisine offers high quality dishes at excellent prices, it is fine dining served fast AND fresh! The food and flavors are a delicious combination of savory and spicy, your taste buds will explode with enjoyment. And Butcher’s Block LA serves it up with style, your food is not only prepared fresh but beautifully presented and garnished with an hoja de platano (banana leaf). Pura vida!
Best sweet treat
Blast Ice Cream– two-way tie!

- Ain’t that Grand: Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream, Coffee Whip, Graham Cracker Crust, Spiced Chocolate, and Dulce de Leche. Ain’t that Grand was GRAND by all means, it was decadently delicious, delectably sweet yet satisfyingly spicy all at once, and the graham cracker crust gave it that perfect crunch that sealed the deal!

- The “Frenchie”: Cinnamon Hallah French Toast Ice Cream, Smoked Maple Bourban Whip with a drizzle of Real Maple Syrup. The “Frenchie” was SO good from start to finish- the lightly sweet but scrumptious Cinnamon Hallah French Toast ice cream was a unique and true treat, the Maple Bourban whip was so light and dreamy delicious, and the maple syrup gave it the extra touch of sweetness that made your mouth water!
