
The most frightfully-fun Día de Los Muertos celebration awaits families and kids at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 28th. In harmony with the rich Mexican Traditions of observing the Day of the Dead, the distinct event seamlessly blends educational insights about centuries-old practices with art, crafts, dance, and a wide array of entertainment.
There’s lots to raise spirits of all ages and explore at the Children’s Plaza, a place where everyone can partake in hands-on activities, enjoy captivating storytelling sessions, and get creative with mask-making workshops inspired by this year’s theme. Delve into the enchanting traditions of Día de Los Muertos with your family.
This year’s Children’s Plaza fun arts and crafts activities include:
1) Máscaras de Tecuani
Jaguar Masks inspired by the Collection of Rafael Coronel. Make your own jaguar paper mask to scare those around you.

2) Honor Your Mascota Framed Art
Honor your pet with a vibrant art piece dedicated to your favorite dog, cat, fish, bird, or other animal you love!

3) Make your own paper Marigold facilitated by Lil’ Libros
Marigolds are symbolic during the Día de los Muertos.. Prepare your Ofrenda and make flowers to present to your loved ones.
4) Lantern Making facilitated by Lil’ Libros
Light up your family ofrenda with your very own lantern!
5) Pan de Muerto decorating demo and workshop by Northgate Market.
With so much more excitement in store there will be a dedicated stage just for children’s entertainment. The Calaveritas stage will offer a dazzling display of entertainment and cultural richness to all those joining the celebration.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (9am-3pm)

Delight in the enchanting Children’s Village and explore over 150 Aztec dancers and performers on four spectacular stages. Indulge in delectable food, captivating crafts, and the spirit of togetherness. Los Angeles’ popular DJs, from Altura art gallery studio space located in Lincoln Heights, are set to fuse their beats at the daytime event. Among them are DJ Fuego, celebrated for his residencies at renowned bars, and DJ Fondo, co-founder of the monthly cumbia dance party collective ¡Dinamita!, in addition to Disco Rolas & DJ Cozmic Vibes.
NOCHE DE LOS MUERTOS (5pm-12am)
As the sun sets, the festivities reach new heights. Prepare to be mesmerized by the electrifying beats of Bomba Estereo, as they ignite the night with their sensational music. Join the jubilant crowd as we dance under the stars, celebrating life and paying tribute to our beloved ancestors. For the nighttime event you can look forward to beats presented by Nochenegra, a vinyl party founded by DJ Mar, along with the opportunity to see DJ El Keamo play as well.
